1984 Flatiron A5-1, Carlson Signed, $3,600.00

Here's the real thing and it's everything you could want in a Carlson-era Flatiron mandolin.... big chop, lots of volume and spot-on intonation. All of this in what appears to be a "new", unplayed, 1984 Steve Carlson-signed Flatiron A5-1. This mandolin was "special" from the start..... it features very curly Maple, a darker-than-normal stain/sunburst, a fancy abalone fleur-de-lis headstock inlay (a rare option on early models) and factory gold hardware. Factory build details include the previously mentioned curly Maple, a Spruce top, lacquer finish, a 1&1/8 inch nut width, a flat fretboard and X-bracing.

As advertised, this one is still "new"..... there's not a sign of playwear on this mandolin (including the frets) and, thanks to a few premium updates, it has the enhanced playability that comes with the best modern hardware and a fresh professional set-up.

The "must have" updates include the following:
*New "custom" black buttons on the Schaller tuners (removed the factory pearloid buttons.... yuck!)
*New natural bone nut installed (replaced the factory synthetic nut)
*Full-contact Cumberland Acoustic ebony bridge
