  3. A friend of mine entrusted me with her Grandfather's 1915 Gibson F-2 to play. It is in phenomenal shape, with only an 1-1/2" crack in the top, which I had repaired. It can use new frets, but that can wait. Everything else on it is original, unbroken, and in great working, and playing shape. Her grandfather had it in his high school mandolin orchestra in 1917, and he seems to be the only person who ever played it.
