The first E-string tuner cog on my snakehead was repaired with a small screw drilled eccentrically and has succeeded in grinding the worm gear to a knife edge. When de-tuned, it sticks and then lets go with a bang.
What would be the recommended repair?
(Plug and redrill for Waverly's?)

I have saved spare parts from tuners as well as other instrument hardware so I usually dig through the stuff till I find a match for such occasions as yours. I have found that a number of music stores (that do repairs and setups) will often come through with the odd part. Hopefully you have such a store in your vicinity.
Hope this helps.

Mandophilus..are those tuners gold plated arrow-ends? or just the way the picture looks

The tuners are nickel. The photo was taken outside at sunset.

Thought that might be the case.

I'm still looking for that set of 20's gold plated arrow end a-style tuners. I'm sure they exist, we just have not found them yet

Is it possible to replace an individual worm gear as shown above or does one replace the entire 4-on-a-plate?
