  1. Mandolin Mondays #346 /// "Shady Grove"

This new Octolindo octave mandolin from KR Strings has helped bring some new life to a bunch of old tunes I play like this classic bluegrass number "Shady Grove." Hope you folks enjoy!

For folks interested, I'm playing with the tuning GDAD down tuned a half step and capoed up one fret--a trick I've picked up from some tenor banjo players who do this for a slightly smaller scale length and tonal nuance.

To record a song, I would sit in the studio with mics on playing the song as though I was performing it. My producer, Brooks Williams, and my engineer, Chris Pepper, would find the tempo and create a drum track that suited ...

  5. Long Scale Tenor Guitars, 4 & 8 string models

I was wondering if any manufacture makes a 4 string tenor with the longer 25-25.5" scale length? Someone said Breedlove did but I can't find Info?

I've just finished a rebuild on an S12 Seagull guitar into an eight string tenor. The sound is enormous and the tone especially from the bass strings is awesome. I love the longer scale tuning and sound of the GG, DD, AA, EE tuning. (two lower string banks are in octaves).
