    Aleikhem Shalom Dave*

Finally a klezmer tune on Mandolin Mondays. Bluegrass-ified version and I can't dance to it. But a nod to the great klezmer genre none the less.

    *Shalom
aleikhem is a spoken greeting in Hebrew, meaning "peace be upon you." The appropriate response is aleikhem shalom

Jaaaakkkeeeee! Glad to see you here. You're sounding great as ever.

Funny story. 3-4 months ago I was in Brooklyn (no, I don't live there) on the train. It stops, young guy with a man bun and a Calton case gets on, sits across from me. I walk over and sit down next to him, he looks at me funny, as he should have. I say, "hey man, you played your first out of state gig in Lawrence, KS when you were in high school, brought there by Ken Cartwright and didn't even get paid for it." Had not seen him in person since. We had 6-7 station stops to catch up before I exited.

We have someone (ahem) working, albeit slowly, towards a feature interview with Jake we hope to see in our mailbox in the future.

He's a great, enthusiastic musician and instructor and his Sullivan is a fine instrument. I was at a festival in Tygh Valley, Oregon this past weekend and there were two other Sullivan mandolins there and both were really great mandolins.

Been following Caleb for a long time! Check out all of his Foghorn String Band videos some time - there are many. He gets that woody sound out of a mandolin like almost no other. He is the man!

I have already reserved a place at the house concert he will be doing in Portland (OR) in early December. Check his website for details. I hope to see some of my MC friends there. He and his style have been on my "awesome" list since I first heard one of his air-hammer tremolos.

I love hearing Caleb's Sullivan mando! (...and every Sullivan for that matter. Andrew Marlin was picking one for a while too.)

Nice picking Caleb. Really enjoyed this one.

Nice tune - My order is in! Hopefully someday I can try a cup at its namesake. It was great to meet you at the Frankfort fest, and see Mile Twelve. I will also add my appreciation for Mando Mondays - strange to imagine, but it seems like I can remember a time when I didn't necessarily look forward to Mondays.
