Great tune. Mandolin sounds awesome. Well played
Great piece! The dog came in right on cue too
Love it!
Welcome, Billy. Nicely played!
Lovely David! I've seen it both ways Britches and Breeches. O'Neill's lists it as Breeches. The first part does sound a little like Banish Misfortune but it is 260 Frieze Breeches.
One of my favourite players! Unfortunately I sound nothing like him.
David, I love your playing and the sound of your Girouard A5! The tune is "Frieze Britches" or is that "Frieze Breeches?"
no its not.
It's actually the double jig ' Banish Misfortune ' Dave H
Great stuff!!!
Awesome. Thanks!
Fantastic David..
Welcome, David. Nicely played.
Excellent playing as always, Dan!
Beautiful! Thank you!
How very nice!
VERY NICE!!!! THANKS
Well done!
Beautifully played Dan!
Impeccably and soulfully played.
Wow! Very nice. Thanks
Beautiful playing, Dan. Welcome!
Wow. Great feel, incredible tone, and such good technique. That Girouard sounds amazing, even on those super high notes.
Oh, so sweet. Always loved that song. Thanks Simon!
Unseasonably cool! I really like how Simon Dunson picks with seemingly no resting or touching of picking hand upon bridge saddle;more from the elbow than wrist. That is how it looks to me;and,it makes for quite powerful tone. Being plugged in probably helps with that too. No dust on those close-together frets! Thank you,Simon. I enjoyed that.
Nicely done!
Bravo!
Very nice, Simon. Welcome to Mandolin Mondays!
Thanks for the comments everyone!
Hey Liam - This is great, man! I remember you from Kaufman Kamp 2 years ago, great to hear you playing here!
I really enjoyed this one!
Great job Liam!!!
When I first met Liam, I think he was 10. We were at IBMA World of Bluegrass 2013, and I had so much fun watching this prodigious little boy drag his father around the Exhibition Hall for several days as he tried every mandolin that he could get his hands on. I'm fairly sure he made the circuit once or twice a day for 3 or 4 days. Finally, towards the end of the weekend, he brought his Dad back to my booth, and informed us that he really wanted a Sorensen Sprite Two-Point. The three of us had a little discussion about the seriousness of this commitment, and shortly thereafter, William (Dad) left a deposit check with me. Ironically, when I finished Liam's Sprite build, I had done a twin pair of instruments which were slightly different in tone and response. I had been so impressed with Liam over the years, that I decided to send him BOTH mandolins for test-drives. Liam had the two instruments for a while and very carefully compared the traits of both instruments. Finally, after a month or so, he chose the instrument that he is playing here. When I got the second mandolin back, it was in pristine, like-new condition! A stunning feat for any player who works instruments as thoroughly as Liam does! It has been a sheer delight to watch and work with Liam as his playing skills continue to develop. Ironically, I was listening to Cane Mill Road's first CD, Five Speed, this weekend. Those boys have serious chops! Steve
Liam was on the instructor staff at the Pre-Merlefest Wernik Jam Camp this year which I attended as a "jammer". He was knowledgeable, friendly, and did a great job of helping us improve our improv and jamming skills. He's obviously talented, but also one of the nicest guys you'll every meet! (That Sorenson sounded even better in person.)
Welcome, Liam. Nicely played! Folks, watch, there's a great right-hand in action. Left too for that matter.
Beautiful. Thanks, Michael. PS: Nice Gil..
Seen a bunch of his fiddling on youtube, glad to see him throw down on a mando!
Just awesome!!
Welcome, Michael. Fine playing!
this was great, I'm buying Two Trees. d
Very nice. I just purchased Two Trees.
Holy Smokes! Beautiful tune, great playing.
Exquisite and beautiful. Wow. Do yourself a favor and look up her music on her website and Youtube. Mandolin Mondays are amazing...
I've always loved Ashley's sound, for many years now. It is the player, though, not the instrument, I had one of her previous mandolins at one point, an A Collings, and it sure sounded less attractive when I played it (even in the lower tuning that she used then).
She is one of my favorite musicians. Seems to approach the mandolin like no one else out there.
Beautiful composition. That musician & mandolin were made for each other. Looking forward to more from her!
Wonderful playing and a lovely composition. Thanks for giving Ashley a deserved place in the spotlight.
Nicely done! Beautiful compositon and amazing tone, that Apitius sings!
She sounds great. Her tone is so deep and rich I had to double check to make sure it wasn't a mandola.
If I thought Oliver could possibly ship her skills and tone out with his next mandolin, I'd buy it on the spot. Love her playing!!!! I think I understand that hers was the last one of his previous round of building (before his hiatus), and was offered to her incomplete. A friend of mine says he completed the finishing (and perhaps glueing?). Would like to know the entire story.
