Thank you for the nice comments!
Great mandolin interpretation of a mighty fine tune.
Welcome, Giri! Great to meet you and your sister Uma at Folk Alliance a few weeks ago. Enjoyed your showcase, looking forward to hearing your music in the future. Great picking!
I know Spain is covered frequently in many genres but I've never really listened to it. My first exposure to is via mandolin! Cool.
Welcome, Ethan! Great to hear your music again. For those that may have missed it, we interviewed Ethan here. Great take on Spain...
Excellent as always Jarrod. Many fond memories watching you and your brother play at Craigs Rv in Arcadia Fl
Just want to say thanks for these Mandolin Monday posts! It's really inspiring seeing all these fresh pickers! Not only is David's music fresh and creative, but it's awesome to see these other pickers too. I frequent YouTube to watch Matt demo the new mandolins at his local shop and always enjoyed his picking. Between him and David and the new guard rolling in its a very exciting time to be part of the mandolin community.
Most excellent. Thanks!
Thank you, that's really cool.
Welcome, Jarrod. What a great chord solo!
Wow is right!
Wow.
Dis-amn!
Thanks for that inspirational treat.
Wow! Nicely done, Matt! Steve
Lovely, my friend.
Matt, nicely done. You are a madman! That's some fierce crosspicking. Welcome to Mandolin Mondays!

Hi Frosty, Well, I did a few takes of the piece before deciding which one to use. After playing the last take, I was sure I wouldn't be using it as one of the other takes was surely better, so I sort of muttered "nah!" to myself and scraped the pick across the strings after the last chord. But after listening to all of the takes, I went with that one after all. I DID consider adding an explosion at the end, but it would have taken too much time to edit it in (and those books are highly flammable). Maybe next time. Thanks for listening! Matt

Wonderful! There's so much music in this diminutive instrument. What's the zipper sound after the conclusion of the piece around 2:13... some of Matt's humor showing up for Mandolin Mondays?
Wow, that's amazing! I went over to youtube to hear the original--it is one thing to present this piece on 88 keys, 10 fingers producing harmony, and the huge dynamic range of a concert piano, and quite another on the mando. The artistry is how you've preserved the core of the piece while making it more intimate.
Bravo! "Welcome Matt." er, we mean Welcome, Matt. Sure you've NEVER heard that joke before. Love your playing. Thanks for being here with us.
Thank you for the kind words Drew, Scott and Uncle Choppy (sorry I don't know your real name). Glad to know there are other fans of both mandolin and Metheny out there. I hope we get to cross paths again soon.
Wow. Fantastic stuff. There have been some real treats in the Mandolin Monday series. I too love the Bright Size Life album. From the first listen, I heard something very different to any jazz I'd heard before. There was something deep, almost folksy, about the tunes and the textures and sense of space in the arrangements just added to that feeling. This interpretation shows me my ears did not deceive me. Unity Village sounds completely at home on the mandolin and it brings out that earthy side to it. Thanks for sharing and the wonderful playing!
Great playing, Jason. Welcome to Mandolin Mondays! Always enjoy having your music around the Cafe.
The "Bright Size Life" album was instrumental (pun maybe intended) in getting me hooked on jazz. Sounds great, Jason! Thanks for joining Mandolin Mondays!
A+ !
Thanks everybody for your kind and insightful comments! Rocky Road to Dublin is an extremely common name for both American old time tunes and some Irish tunes as well...Most of the melodies under this title are completely unrelated...but my version is somewhat similar to versions of this tune also played by 1920's fiddler's ,Bill Hensley(Polk County NC) and Alan Sisson(E.TN) Thanks again to David Benedict and Scott Tichenor for giving me a few minutes to share some old time mandolin music with the Mandolin Cafe. I hope to see some of you at music camps I am teaching at this summer; The Acoustic Blues Workshop at Centrum in Port Townsend WA in August and Compton's Monroe Camp in September. All the best!
Beautiful! Isn't there a slip jig by the same name? Sounds like this could have been inspired by that.
Wow, I love this! And that must be the mandolin on the cover of the eBook. Sweet!
Excellent, Adam! Thanks,Scott!
Love the tune, timbre, style--particularly double-stops, I could hear a fiddle playing!
Thanks to both David for including Adam in his guest project, and to Adam for a gem of a tune!
Fantastic playing, wonderful tune and a beautiful sounding (and looking) mandolin. Really enjoyed this! Thank you.
Really great! Thanks Adam!
Great stuff Adam
Nicely done, Adam. Welcome!
