• New Music From Matt Flinner Trio - Traveling Roots

    Nashville, Tenn.
    — Compass Records has announced a January 22 release for the Matt Flinner Trio recording Traveling Roots, a collection of original material written for the trio's "music du jour" shows where the band plays compositions they penned that day specifically for their evening performance.

Asked about the recording, Matt told us, "All the experience we've had on the road, writing for each other, learning from each other, hanging out together, watching our families grow, and growing as musicians and people has fed into this album. We're so happy with the music and so happy to share it.

"We'll be out touring Traveling Roots starting in January, and will be continuing the "du jour" project. But, we will also be writing for many special guests on several shows including Tony Trischka, Darol Anger, Joe Walsh, Andy Hall, Jamie Masefield, Frank Vignola and many others. I'm hoping Sam Bush is on our Nashville show.

"We're looking at 2016 as our opportunity to take the next step in our journey by writing for some of our favorite musicians. We'll see where it leads."

The Matt Flinner Trio is Flinner on mandolin, Ross Martin on guitar and Eric Thorin on bass.
