New York, N.Y. — Sheri Mignano Crawford will be the guest for a live in-studio interview on the "Johnny Mandolin Radio Show," Monday, May 23, 2016 from 8:00-9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on City World Radio.

Johnny will interview accordionist Crawford who grew up and studied accordion in a Sicilian ghetto in San Jose, California. She went on to receive her baccalaureate in music history/literature, and a graduate degree in humanities. Her previous books
Mandolins, Like Salami and
Mandolin Melodies cover the San Francisco bay area mandolin orchestras, its Italian mandolinists, and the ballo liscio (smooth dancing) repertoire.
The interview will focus on her next book tentatively titled
Mazurka Madness. The book is the first comprehensive examination of Italian immigrant music publishers, mandolinists and composers in Philadelphia, New York, Providence, and San Francisco.
Sheri will be joined by Norman Giorno-Calapristi, mandolinist & guitarist, and grandson of Philadelphia's famed mandolinist Luigi Giorno. Together, Norman and Sheri will take you on an unforgettable musical adventure and share some musical examples and excerpts from the book.
Johnny Mandolin (Anello) has been hosting his radio show for many years in Manhattan where he has enjoyed a lifetime role in Little Italy's music scene, the San Gennaro festival, and has contributed to its lively cultural ambience.
