Organizers of the Monroe Mandolin Camp have announced this year's edition will be held September 18-22, 2019 at DuBose Conference Center in Monteagle, Tenn.
Registration opens January 1 on the camp web site.
An intensive hands-on educational and musical weekend for traditional bluegrass enthusiasts of all levels, Monroe Mandolin Camp focuses exclusively on bluegrass as created by Bill Monroe and The Bluegrass Boys, and the music that influenced the creation the musical genre called Bluegrass Music.
Instruction is led by an internationally renowned staff on traditional bluegrass band instrumentation: mandolin, fiddle, banjo, guitar, upright bass, and vocals. Classes focus on technique and theory, history of Bill Monroe's musical journeys, melodies and structures, and the all important "timing, tuning, and tempo."
The historic DuBose Conference Center in Monteagle sits atop the scenic setting of the Cumberland Plateau just over an hour outside of Nashville. On-site catered hot meals, a variety of lodging options, and classes all in one centralized building allow participants to focus on Monroe's music.
Other camp activities include but are not limited to daily organized jams for all levels led by instructors, one-on-one individual tutoring, yoga classes, master class band coaching and more!

Video Scholarship Competitions
Six scholarships are being made available for this year for mandolin, fiddle and banjo. The winner of each category will be invited to play during The Station Inn concert with the camp staff, instructors and special guest artists.
- Submissions open to candidates of any age.
- A Bill Monroe tune submission may be on mandolin, fiddle, or banjo. One submission per individual. Participants to write a 500 word essay on their musical pursuits and why they are interested in Monroe’s prolific music.
- Video must remain under 4 minutes.
- Please announce your name and song title on the video. You may play solo or with accompaniment.
- A maximum of 20 submissions accepted (you will receive an email with confirmation if your video is accepted.)
- Upload video to YouTube and email the link to: monroemandolincamp@gmail.com. In subject line of email, please write "Video Scholarship Competition."
- Mandolin Scholarship: submit video between Feb. 1-15.
- Winner announced Feb. 28
- Banjo Scholarship: submit video between March 1-15.
- Winner announced March 30
- Fiddle Scholarship: submit video between April 1-15.
- Winner announced April 30
- Winner of each Video Scholarship Competition to be awarded a full scholarship including tuition and camp T-shirt, a $516.50 value.
- Transportation, meals and lodging are separate and the responsibility of the winner.
- Winner of each Individual Video Scholarship will be invited to play at the Station Inn, September 17.

Monroe Mandolin Camp is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization with the missions of creating a living musical memorial to Bill Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass Music, preserving and promoting the root source and heritage of this original American art form, and sharing that with the world through this instructional camp.
