Searching for items that have sold on the Classifieds

Rating: 1 votes, 4.00 average.
A brief tutorial on how to search the Classifieds for items that have sold. Because we like viewing measurable information, it's fun to see what is selling or has sold. Many, but certainly not all sellers mark the item as such to prevent having to address additional replies.

Through some programming, any time the word Sold or sold appears in the title of the ad it's automatically changed to upper case SOLD, the idea that it stands out better in upper case. By using the Cafe's Advanced Search function on the Classifieds we can easily perform this function. Note though, that it will pick up that word if someone has upper cased it in the body of the ad.

Screens shot below shows the form filled and ready for searching. Just type the word SOLD as the search term, and select it as case sensitive and hit enter.

You can choose to show them as a list of ads, or full view, or just those that have sold that have photos or don't (ads without photos do sell, contrary to comments you may read).

From time to time we also search for the word hold, as case insensitive. Not an exact science, but shows us how many ads are in the process of being sold. Between the two, a lot of ads moving!
