Mandolin Mondays #147 w/ Special Guest Dave Goldenberg

Rating: 1 votes, 5.00 average.
Brooklyn-based mandolinist Dave Goldenberg stops by Mandolin Mondays to play us a traditional Jewish folk tune performed on this Hugh Hansen A-style mandolin.

Dave was one of the first ever mandolin graduates of the Berklee College of music, and he has gone on to become a winner of the Utah State Mandolin Contest, the Telluride Bluegrass Band Contest, Rockygrass Mandolin Contest, and the 2015 Winfield National Mandolin Contest. Dave also has a progressive instrumental duo recording out with 5-string fiddle extraordinaire Christian Sedelmyer (of 10 String Symphony and the Jerry Douglas Band). The album gives a nod to Seinfeld with the title The Show About Nothing. Check it out here: https://christiananddave.bandcamp.co...-about-nothing

Here's Dave with a word about the video, "This is a traditional Jewish folk melody that I've heard since I can remember hearing music. I'm playing a mandolin built by the great Hugh Hansen from Nashville, TN."

    Aleikhem Shalom Dave*

Finally a klezmer tune on Mandolin Mondays. Bluegrass-ified version and I can't dance to it. But a nod to the great klezmer genre none the less.

    *Shalom
aleikhem is a spoken greeting in Hebrew, meaning "peace be upon you." The appropriate response is aleikhem shalom
