All the way from India, the amazing Tapas Roy brings us an amazing video for this week's Mandolin Mondays. Here's Tapas original composition played on his beautiful Mintu Biswas Mandolin.



Tapas Roy, is a versatile mandolin player from India. He began his musical journey with the Dotara, at the age of ten, learning from his father Pdt Paritosh Roy who was a legendary Bengali folk music composer and a renowned Dotara player. Tapas also plays other plucked instruments like Oud, Bouzouki, Saz and Rabab. He is a highly sort after musician in bollywood and regularly accompanies singer Arijit Singh, and Kailsh Khers band, Kailasa .

    Fantastic playing, Tapas! Love the Kermann style mandolin and it sounds great, as does your playing.

    I love this tune. It is in a mode used in klezmer music as well as Middle East oud playing. Tapas is a fine player and look at that Kermann style mandolin by Mintu Biswas. Very nice.

    Another great mandolinist brought to our attention.
