This week on Mandolin Mondays, Emma Borders brings us a stunning interpretive performance of the Gigue from Bach's Dm Violin Partita played on her Weber Bridger Octave Mandolin.
At fifteen, Emma is more musically accomplished than most adults, and she performs on a wide range of instruments: mandolin, octave mandolin, classical violin and fiddle. Add to this her soaring vocal prowess, and the artistry makes quite an impression.
From Nashville, TN, Emma Borders is the oldest of six siblings and has been studying music since she was six. Her inspiration came after her family showed up at the last minute for a concert by a Juilliard-trained classical-crossover artist. Seeing the virtuosic violin-playing sparked a passion inside Emma. At the age of eight she sat down with her mother and told her, “I want to be the best violinist there is.” That dedication shows in the accuracy and elegance that marks Emma’s playing.
Also, Emma just released a fantastic debut EP called Born to Fly. Check it out here: https://open.spotify.com/album/2hHWrjYzmeFRKvVPLdkOJW
