Nashville mandolin cat Ashby Frank of The Likely Culprits is with us this week on Mandolin Mondays to take a spin on the tune "Goodbye Liza Jane" with his 1997 Randy Wood mandolin.
Ashby, is one of the top go to mandolin players for touring and recording in the Nashville area, and his work speaks for itself--from his time on the road with Jerry Douglas and the Earls of Leiscester, John Cowan, Mountain Heart and much more.
Most recently, Ashby has been playing with the new bluegrass powerhouse group The Likely Culprits. The band recently released their debut self-titled record, be sure to check it out here: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4OKZ...TfCKbPzEmQaGkQ
Here's a word from Ashby about the mandolin in this video, "My mando is a 1997 Randy Wood. My dad purchased it from Tony Williamson at Merlefest, and Randy had just finished it the week before. I’ve played several other mandolins on the road and in the studio over the years, but this is the one I always come back to. It has such a balanced tone, and I love the neck."
