Mandolin Mondays #294 w/ Special Guest Matt Mundy

Rate this Entry
This week on Mandolin Mondays we're joined by Aquarium Rescue Unit alum and mandolinist with Frances Mooney & Fontanna Sunset Matt Mundy playing this Josh Graves tune on his tone monster 1980's Gibson Fern mandolin.

Matt was born North Georgia where he continues to live and play in his family band and Frances Mooney & Fontanna Sunset. Over the years he's garnered a reputation in the mandolin community as one the most creative and original players on the scene through his work with acoustic all stars such as Tony Rice and Bela Fleck as well as his tenure in the band Bruce Hampton and The Aquarium Rescue Unit in the early 1990s.

Here's a quote from Matt about the tune in this video, "'Flatt Lonesome' by Josh Graves is an odd Dobro tune I loved to hear my PAPA play and i think it makes a nice Mandolin piece as well."

Second on the Acoustic Planet work, listen to it often and it never gets old.

Ah, that's just right! I was working on some bluesy stuff earlier, so this fit my day to a T. Thank you sir for some fine picking on a nice tune.
