Mandolin Mondays #307 w/ Special Guest Vitor Casagrande

This week on Mandolin Mondays, we have the amazing Brazilian mandolinist Vitor Casagrande and his Agnaldo Luz mandolin with us to play this beautiful original composition "Clarice" that Vitor wrote for his 4 month old daughter.



Vitor Casagrande is a mandolinist and composer born in Piracicaba, Brazil. He graduated in cavaquinho at the Music School in Piracicaba, in mandolin from Tatuí, graduated in Music Education at UFSCar, and he received a Masters in Music at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Vitor is a now mandolin teacher at Escola de Choro de São Paulo, as well as a member of the groups Água de Vintém and Batuqueiros, with whom he recorded 4 CD's. Over the years, Vitor has shared the stage with renowned musicians and composers such as Cristovão Bastos, Nailor Proveta, Nelson Sargento, Alessandro Penezzi, Déo Rian, Izaias de Almeida, Zé Paulo Becker, Pedro Paes, Maurício Carrilho, Toninho Carrasqueira, among others. He also has recorded 2 EP's “Vitor Casagrande Trio” and “Dois” in partnership with Swedish guitarist Mats Andersson.

He is the author of the ebook “Brazilian Notebook for Mandolin: the Study of Picking”, a material created with the help of 13 renowned Brazilian mandolin players to facilitate the learning of the instrument in the Brazilian language, launched in 2020. Vitor has a wealth of Choro mandolin instruction on his YouTube channel as well--link below.
