Back on Mandolin Mondays this week we have mandolin J.S. Bach aficionado C.E. Jones here to tackle the one and only Dm Chaconne, from the Bach Violin Partita No.2 BVW 1004 with his Gibson F9.
C.E. Jones is a West Virginia-based mandolinist who's bringing Bach to the mandolin in new ways. If you haven't already, be sure to check out his recent record on the Bach Goldberg Variations available here on Bandcamp: https://cejones.bandcamp.com/releases
In addition to his solo work, he's also active in the West Virginia folk and acoustic scene with his band 18 Strings: https://www.18strings.net/
Here's a word from Jones about the specs on this video, "The mandolin is an early-2000s Gibson F9, the pick is a Bluechip CT55, recorded through a Neumann KM184. I've been working on it off and on since 2006 and my approach to it has changed as I've gotten older. I'm sure I'll keep coming back to it to see how my understanding of it changes even more."
This video was filmed and recorded at Riot Studios in West Virginia: https://www.facebook.com/riotcitystudios https://www.instagram.com/riotcitystudioswv/?hl=bg
