Mandolin Mondays #344 w/ Special Guest Karolina Jastrzębska

Rating: 1 votes, 5.00 average.
This week on Mandolin Mondays we're joined by Polish mandolinist Karolina Jastrzębska of the bands Caroline & the Lucky Ones and Stacja Folk to play this compelling original composition "The Ant's Path" on her powerhouse Polish-made Bulas mandolin.

Karolina encountered music at an early age in Poland. Growing up the group T. Band would often rehearse in her home--her father, Paweł Jastrzębski, played the violin in the band. Soon Karolina started music and guitar lessons with Mirosław Łączyński and singing lessons with Agata Wrońska. In the meantime, she participated in many workshops related to various musical styles. In 2012 she founded her first band Cuckoo Child, with which she toured for 3 years performing blues and funk music. In 2014, she graduated from the Agata Wrońska's Vocal School. A year later, the band Caroline & the Lucky Ones was formed, in which Karolina sings, composes, and plays the guitar and mandolin. In 2017, she joined the country-bluegrass line-up of Kathy Simon Band, in which she was the second vocalist and mandolinist next to the band leader Kasia Sienkiewicz. In 2020, the Stacja Folk (Folk Station) was created--an acoustic project referring to the americana style. Karolina often performs solo or in duets (most often in a duet with the guitarist Piotrek Trela as Lucky 2) and performs as a guest with various bands, e.g. the blues group J.J. Band. Parallel to her musical activity, she defended her bachelor's degree and master's degree in dietetics at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. Currently she teaches mandolin and is a student of the I. and II Degree Authors' Music School. Krzysztof Komeda at the vocal department in the class of Magdalena Ptaszyńska.

I like that tune! It's a bit hypnotic, and you are really getting the tone out of that Bulas mandolin. Cool title too. Thanks for sharing with us.
