Mandolin Mondays #420 w/ Special Guest Pete Martin

This week on Mandolin Mondays we're joined by mandolin educator and writer, Pete Martin, playing an original tune called "A Roll of Turkey" on his 1924 Gibson A2 mandolin.

Pete Martin is a musician and music teacher living in Seattle. Playing fiddle, mandolin, guitar and tenor guitar, he has performed and recorded with many Northwest artists.

Pete is a former National Adult Fiddle Champion and has placed in the top 5 at the Winfield Mandolin Contest. He was a columnist for Mandolin Magazine and has authored 13 instructional books on mandolin and fiddle playing.

Here's a word from Pete about the tune in this video, "Here is an original jazz tune I call 'A Roll of Turkey.' It is the changes to 'On A Slow Boat to China' and I wrote a bop head to it. I do that quite a lot when I find a tunes with changes I like to improv against."
