Today, I've been spending some time recording a few favourite Irish song airs. Spancil Hill has always been one of my favourites, ever since I first heard it on Christy Moore's 1972 album "Prosperous", so when I came across a nice transcription online, I had to give it a go.

The version I worked from is here (and pretty close to Christy Moore's, although I play it faster than he did): PDF

Recorded on my Ajr, played in unison with bouzouki, against a fastish 6/8-time rhythm laid down on tenor guitar.

Nice job Martin and Eddie. I missed this one first time through.
I like it. It'll be going on my list.

Here's a page with a wee bit of background info on the song, plus all the lyrics, including a few verses Christy misses out.

If i get the chance might try and record a version as I have been working on it recently.

That's great chording, Neil, I like that arrangement. Great pacing, too.

I recorded this instrumental version of the Irish folk song "Spancil Hill" a few weeks ago, but forgot about it until I listened back just now and thought it sounds OK.

Very straightforward rendition of the tune as played on mandocello with a simple tenor guitar accompaniment. Apologies that my fretting hand is partially obscured which I didn't realise at the time. Source for the transcription is the same as my very ancient 2011 version above in this thread:
