I am very new to stringed instruments, (Ok, I have tinkered with my wife's harp.) but have a history in playing brass. (That is about 25 years ago as well, but at least I can read music.) I got a case of blisters for Yule this year, my wife got me a 'low end' Mandolin last week. I am starting my way through the Horne book and adding tab/G-clef music to broaden my practice sessions. It is fun, (I even broke my first e-string today.) and I have a half hour session with an instructor here in Seattle tomorrow, to make sure that I am doing things right. I am glad I found this group and will try to keep up with the suggested music. I am currently working on a couple of Christmas tunes for fun and things like "Irish Washerwoman" to master.
