I'm thrilled that there is a Garden State Mandolin Players group on mandolincafe.com. As a newbie to the octave mandolin in Bergen County (near Englewood, NJ), I'm now searching for a teacher who can give lessons (my interests are both Celtic and Bluegrass). I'm a veteran bass player but definitely new to the OM. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears. regards, Doug

You could also contact Todd Collins in Basking Ridge. Both phenom instructors! When I showed up at Barry's with an OM a ways back his comment was "why don't you just get a mandolin". He was right on.....at least for me. The long scale OM was for me a dead end. YMMV/David
