My attempts at three fingered picking of the mandolin have proved unsuccessful but it is possible to play it with thumb and first finger; though whether it is desirable to do so I will leave to you to decide.
This is Bruce Dix's arrangement of the old gospel classic from his First Lessons book played fingerpicking three times then twice more in the usual flat picking style. Let me know what you think!

That's a cool arrangement. Can you tell me the chords in it?

I like the finger picking style and have always wondered why you don't see it more often. For anyone curious, I'm linking an introduction to it along with several lessons.

Here are the chords to the piece:-

    D A7
This train is bound for glory This train

This train is bound for glory Dont carry noone but the righteous and holy

    The A7 chord is 0567.

For some reason the A7 and G7 chords changed position when I posted the message. The A7 should be above the second"This train" and the G7 above "Dont"

Thanks so much. I'm going to play around with this one. Do you finger pick guitar? You really took to that style on the mandolin quickly. and naturally.
