John, I've not attended but know folks that go every year. Lot's of jamming going on and a big get together for the Bluegrass lovers in this area.
Is there a festival/jam in Meadville in January this year?
The Meadville Bluegrass Festival usually takes place the third weekend in January. At least, that's what has happened in the past. It is more of a festival with a long line up of bands but a lot of informal jamming takes place in the hotel hallways. The attendees pretty much take over the entire hotel. It is the Day's Inn in Meadville. If you contact them they could give you more details perhaps. There has been nothing about it yet in the Meadville paper which is unusual. They should be hyping it up by now.
