Know anything about him? From a set of liner notes I saw recently: "Seth Weeks, a black man, became possibly the first to record ragtime on the mandolin in the 1890's." If he actually recorded in the 1890s he may well have been the first to record any ragtime, as well as one of the first mandolinists to record. Even Vess Ossman didn't do any recording until 1906.
