Jigs and reels we have already, so what's lacking are hornpipes.
One of my favourite is "Off to California"
I have subtiteled my version "Duelling Banjos" because I try a little clawhammer and tenor banjo, but the winner should be the mandolin.

As I don't play clawhammer I'm duty bound to say that the tenor wins, but it's still mighty impressive and must be quite a difficult undertaking. Great tone on the mandolin, so maybe it wins. Great all round.

Two fine hornpipes. gents. Banjo sounds great in "California" and the "Cornallan" is a new one to me and very enjoyable too. Here's one I posted some time back on the SAW group so I'll revive it here as hornpipes are the flavour of the moment!

Nice sounds so far! Here's another hornpipe I got from Steve Kaufmann's Encyclopedia of Celtic tunes,"The Wonder Hornpipe".
It's played on my banjolele und ukulele tuned like a mando.
