Nylon Strings

Today I had the idea to put nylon strings on my Goodtime open back tenor banjo. I sacrificed a set of Aquila Nylgut strings for this purpose. Originally I wanted to tune it in the Irish tenor fashion GDAE but that seemed a bit to slack, so I tuned it up one whole tone:AEBF#
It sounds quite good to my ears and is pleasant under my fingers. To demonstrate the sound, I recorded "Chief 'Neil's favourite" with nylon string guitar accompaniment: https://soundcloud.com/tele1310/chief-oneils-favourite

Hi xiledscot, glad you like the sound. My main idea was to reduce the volume a bit and I guess the nylon solution works quite well.
I heard about the Thomastiks but havn't tried them yet. Guess I will look them up.
