This is another English country dance tune from the first edition of Playford's English Dancing Master from 1651. Maiden Lane is a small London street in Covent Garden. Arrangement by Steve Hendricks: http://sca.uwaterloo.ca/Hendricks/Pl...ew/maidenl.pdf I have adapted his arrangement for mandolins and have recorded it on: 1890s Umberto Ceccherini mandolin 1921 Gibson Ajr mandolin 1925 Zimmermann waldzither Ozark tenor guitar Suzuki Mc-815 mandocello Compared to the Playford tunes I've recorded over the past week, I've used a brighter mandolin this time (my Ceccherini bowlback) and have mixed the guitar rhythm higher, for a more raucous sound. Appropriate to the (then) rather proletarian Maiden Lane location. Martin
Your usual fine playing and instrument choice, Martin. Always a pleasure to hear your latest offering!
