Hey, why is Illinois so mandolin un-friendly? You would think we would have a nice, big store like Elderly or The Mandolin Shop.

While Down Home Guitars looks nice, I am lucky to have two stores in Evanston within walking distance that actually have mandolins. But there is very little selection. You would think that the Old Town School of Folk would have a nice selection, but they mainly have student/learner upgrades, mainly Kentucky, Eastman, Big Muddy's.

I will probably be heading down to Frankfurt to check out the Collings and Webers at Down Home Guitars, I'd love to play the Collings MF and the Weber F styles. My plan is to play as many different mandolins and see if any speak to me.

I know how you feel, Gary. There's just no music stores with enough mandolins of different makes to play against each other is there? It's frustrating. Guess Nashville, Chicago, New York City and Elderly have a lock on all that stuff. Good reason for road trips, no?
