I recently joined the MC, saw this group and thought I'd throw my hat in. My first mandolin is a late 1970's Washburn M3-S A style with F holes I picked up in the mid 80's. I played a bit for maybe a year or two but then kind of let the music go for 25 or 30 years when it never made it out of the case more than once or twice a year till a few years ago when I started noodling around again on a more or less regular basis. I've upgraded since but I'm still fond of the old Washburn.
Hi, THart, glad you joined us!
Thanks Mark. Thought I'd add a photo but it looks like you can't from a computer, only from a url?
Looks like I was able to add them to the group photos.
I like that Jethro Burns tailpiece! Yeah, these social groups' software has real limitations like that for the posts. Out in the main forum that's not the case.
Yeah, the JB tailpiece is cool but it tends to cause a buzz on the low strings. Maybe this is a common problem? I see a lot of mandolins being played sans tailpiece cover.
You could try adding a little felt under there, or a piece of leather.
Ahh, I'll try that. Thanks Mark
