    Hi all,

    Weird question alert!

I'm a relatively new mandolin player, on and off trying to learn by myself over the past 3 years or so, and finally seeming to be getting somewhere (i.e. I'm making progress and realising it). But the first instrument I thought of when thinking about learning an instrument was the ukulele and I'm looking at it again. And I see (and hear) there are more people who play both. So it made me wonder: what is it about these two instruments that seems to match?

Note, I haven't got a ukulele yet, nor have I ever played one, but I have my eye on one which is very nicely priced and comes with good reviews, so I'll probably pull the trigger soon and buy it.

A couple of the instruments that I play in the Maple Leaf Champions Jug Band. There are certain songs (Ukulele Lady, Ain't She Sweet, Walkin' My Baby Back Home, Washington At Valley Forge. . .) that really seem to work well on the ukulele.
