Here are two wonderful arrangements of Welsh tunes, from the new collection by Evelyn Tiffany-Castiglioni, posted for free download on the Cafe (also in print form from Amazon):

    Instrumentation for both tunes:

    Mid-Missouri M-0W mandolin (x2)
    Suzuki MC-815 mandocello
    Vintage Viaten tenor guitar

Ton Alarch / The Swan's Tone

This is a traditional Welsh harp tune, originally collected and published by Edward Jones in 1784 with the tempo marking "majestic". The only harp recording I have heard is very slow -- my adaptation for mandolin quartet is somewhat faster, which I thought suits the tune.

    Caerdroia

This is traditional Welsh tune in waltz time, which I originally learned many years ago from Nigel Gatherer (who got the name slightly wrong). "Caerdroia" is the Welsh word for a turf maze, and also the title of an annual magazine on labyrinths and mazes.
