I own three other mandolins besides my S8 and the neck on the S8 is thicker (fatter) than my other mandolins. My Red Valley AM comes in second for thickness of neck. I have small hands so it is a noticeable difference. Regardless, I really like the sound and the shape of the S8. The Godin folks make great instruments. I also have Art & Lutherie guitars made by them and they are well made - particularly the spruce top models.
