Hi, looking for recommendations on strings for a breedlove OF. Just put on d'addario EJ 74 on it and it sounds awful to my ear. Too many overtones, the G is super twangy, like a guitar sound almost. it just generally creates a muddled sound that I haven't had on it before. What do you use?
I’ve been using d’addario on all my mandolins. I haven’t noticed any problems, but I haven’t experimented with other brands either. Keep me in mind if you find something better. Greg
Hi. If you're still interested, I really like the D'Addarrio flatwounds on my Breedlove Cascade They're a lot less expensive than the Thomastiks, but they similarly take off some of that high-end brightness and make the warmer, more mellow sound.
