Kentucky has no Florida

I've just learned that the sticky-outy but at the top of some mandolin fretboards is called the "florida". But this is my Kentucky KM252:

Maybe Kentucky didn't want to confuse the issue with another state's name in their mandolins, but I'm going to be calling this my "panhandle". Or maybe when I'm feeling feisty, my "redneck riviera".

Some of those fancy bowlbacks don't have floridas. They got italies. Shooooo-eee!

Your florida looks like the state line was redrawn to account for rising sealevels.

I did my first floridectomy on a The Loar. I think it was a 220 model. I still have it around here somewhere (the florida, not the The Loar). It would make a great bolo slide except I don't wear bolos.
