Sorry for the delay in posting this winner! It's Reel St. Antoine, which was submitted as a French Canadian tune.

Ouch! I’ve just learned this straight and realised that some play it crooked. Not sure if I can make it crooked on purpose.

And the G major version seems much easier to play! Ahhhh!

Uh oh, link on next poll #559 doesn’t seem to work, anyone else have similar issue?

Very nice, Frithjof -- I'm still trying to make sense of the tune so it's useful to have this (plus, it sounds great)!

Sounding good, Frithjof…. I was also surprised to see that nobody had posted a version of the tune during the period of it being announced that it was the SAW and the next SAW being announced… I have worked on the tune so will try and get something recorded/posted over the coming few days…

Me too, I’ve worked it up but haven’t got around to any recording for ages.
Many thanks Frithjof for being number one!

Great job on this one Frithjof, on your lovely mando!

I can dance to that, Frithjof. Not the weird dance they do in that Maine Fiddle Camp video, of course.
  13. John Kelly

A gently paced reel there, Frithjof, and so cleanly played by you. Lovely sound from your mando too.

That's one cute little baby banjo, Simon. Fits the general mood of the tune

Happy playing on your Banjolele, Simon.

Am I hearing another instrument playing in unison behind the banjo, Simon? Or am I just losing my senses totally?
    Nice playing, by the way.

Thanks Gents I get the idea, little banja fella not liked.
Ok, so I changed the mix and gave more banjolele instead.
Hope you prefer this one. Yes and I lost four valuable ‘likes’ on my YouTube channel in the process of trying to accommodate my fan-base.

Nice playing, Simon. Banjoleles can be fun on some tunes -- I had one on loan a few years ago, which I used on a couple of recordings (e.g. The Marquis Of Lorne). Not that versatile in tone, though.

Here is my own recording made today. I'm playing the tune twice through, the second time adding harmonies by Peter Macfarlane of the Vermont Fiddle Orchestra:

Yes, and the next Tune a Month, Bluegrass Blackberry Blossom is going to need a bit of a personality shift.
Not sure if I’m ready for that.

Really fine, Robert, and that good Collins sound. The thumbnail of the video is of a Weber mandola though, correct?

Three new recordings within the last week.

Simon – I was happy with your first version. The added tracks are great, too.

Martin – Good to have your recording with harmonies by Peter Macfarlane here. I had had the idea to use at least the chords of his arrangement but then decided to post my solo playing.

Robert – Thanks for your good sounding solo version.

Robert, Simon, and Martin all with great additions to this very entertaining SAW.

Robert: great fluency, speed and tone. To my mind that's about the ideal reel tempo - fast enough for the energy jilt but not so fast that the tune becomes a mush. My reels still need a few more notches to reach that sweet spot.

Every time I tried to recorded this tune I made a mistake!

Here’s the version I finally got down.
