I have recorded three more old Italian-American waltzes this weekend -- this is the first, written and published by Onofrio Di Bella in 1935. The original arrangement for two mandolins and guitar (the standard instrumentation for these Italian-American dances) is by Luigi Canoro. The tune is unrelated to the Scottish fiddle tune "Michael's Waltz". I've recorded the original 1935 arrangement, as collected and made kindly available for download in Sheri Mignano's Dropbox folders. For easy reference, I have also linked it here: https://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/a...1&d=1661291080 1898 Giuseppe Vinaccia mandolin (x2) Vintage Viaten tenor guitar https://youtu.be/Z-jMXj_6EPo Martin
You have been very busy, Martin. Three all at once and more to come. The Italian waltzes have a quite distinctive flavour to them.
Bravo, Martin! You did a great job with all these articulations and dynamics.
Thanks, John and Frithjof. This one has been in our repertoire for a few years, although we haven't played it much recently. It's named after the composer's son, Michael Di Bella (who took over the company after Onofrio's death). Fun tune, although not well-known. Martin
Very nice Martin. You have that Italian mood perfectly, nice attentive backing too.
