This Scottish waltz was written a few years ago by Graham Mackenzie, a young fiddler from Inverness. I have learned it from Nigel Gatherer's transcription: https://www.nigelgatherer.com/tunes/...igW/ErigWh.pdf Harmony part on second mandolin added on the repeat of the tune. 1915 Luigi Embergher mandolin Mid-Missouri M-0W mandolin Vintage Viaten tenor guitar https://youtu.be/CNRgMw_p-Ks Curiously, there are no search hits other than Nigel's site for this tune at all, not even Graham's own site. That will of course change now that the tune is on Youtube... Martin
Graham is certainly one of our very finest young Scottish fiddle and violin players and his playing deserves a lot more exposure. He is a graduate of The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and then did a Masters in Scottish Music in The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland back in 2015. Here is a link to Graham with several of his contemporaries playing some of his own music. It will give folk a flavour of what our best young Scottish musicians are creating and blending traditional with many other influences. https://youtu.be/n6_QagE5vPk
Thanks, John. That's a nice video, and a catchy tune they're playing. I like the waltz that Nigel has presented, so I'll be looking out for more of Graham's tunes. Martin
Super nice, down to the last notes!
