  1. Eddie Sheehy
I just acquired a Greek Bouzouki.... now I need something like this to play on it...

I guess when you're that good, you don't need pants.
  3. Eddie Sheehy
The "knees" thing is catching on...
  4. Eddie Sheehy
I guess this will be more my speed.... eventually...

I actually learned this a few months back.... trying to get back in the swing of videoing, so here it is.... the camera angle accentuates my nod to Melina Mecouri, if you get my drift!

There's almost nothing I could say now that wouldn't be a double entendre.
  9. Eddie Sheehy
    Very nice

You surely do Melina Mercouri justice, Barb, but why aren't there any glasses smashed in your video?
  11. Eddie Sheehy
    Uh-oh, I feel a challenge coming on...
  12. Barbara Shultz
    Barbara Shultz
I'd smash glasses, if I didn't have to clean them up, or risk stepping on glass shards!
  13. Eddie Sheehy
    Hopa!

Great job, Eddie! Greek bouzouki has it all over Irish bouzouki in my book!

Barb, you need some Ouzo, then I bet you wouldn't mind cleaning up the glass shards! Enough Ouzo and you wouldn't mind stepping on the shards either! Falling on them might be possible and hazardous, though. So, you better get someone to standby and pick up after, before, and around you!

Here's a challenge for you, Eddie, since you've got the Greek bouzouki. Heck, you've probably already got it down!

  15. Bertram Henze

That challenge is beyond my options - I have no Greek bouzouki, I can drop glasses on my carpet but the sound just wouldn't be right (maybe I could drink Greek wine from a plastic cup and crush it in my hand afterwards... would that count?).
As for Melina Mercouri, please refer to this ad from the current German election campaign. The caption says "we have more to offer"... I can't top that.

More challenge for Eddie: the Greek bouzouki also features in a genre called Rembetiko, played in the Greek-Turkisch border region, with a weird timing. These are two clips from the movie:

First things first Bertram! Here's Never On A Sunday... in one take... flubs and all...

Very good, Eddie! Is that Greek Bouzouki a round/cylinder backed instrument? Do I see festive banners in the background?
  18. Eddie Sheehy
Yes it is a bowl-back. There are some pics here.

The banners are still up from my wifes 50th - we were in Moscow for it so the kids celebrated it on our return... banners, cake, the works...

Excellent playing there, timing, rhythm, clean picking, everything Barbara, well done.
    And nice playing Eddie, thanks.

Anyone want to have a go at this one as a Song-a-10 days?
I’m going to print it out tomorrow and see how it fits on the octave mandolin.
I’ve always loved these Greek tunes but never had the TAB, so here goes.
    Yippeee!

Here’s the same .abc as Eddie’s (I hope) which fits on a single page:
