This is another Irish reel written by Turlough O’Carolan. Please enjoy!
Fine precise playing pluckingstrings. Also there’s a thread already on the Other tunes list. (O’Carolan is quite well known). Martin started that thread a I’m certain that he would be thrilled to share the thread with you, he will no doubt tell you. https://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/g...544&do=discuss
Obviously great minds were thinking of Morgan Megan. Simon is right - lovely precise playing and a lovely rhythmic drive and tone.
Corporal Simon, please Richard (in this capacity). And I’m not sure why the tune was most often called Morgan Magan, probably because the dude who wrote the thing spoke a strange foreign language. Here’s a source for the tune above https://abcnotation.com/searchTunes?...n&f=c&o=a&s=10 And another source with the other common titles: Murtach Mac Cana, Murtagh MacCann, Murtagh McCann, Planxty Morgan Mawgan I must admit these titles look very strange, not English at all. https://thesession.org/tunes/6198
Fine playing, Jason.
McCann, Magan ... There's a connection I hadn't thought of before. This is an O'Carolan tune I don't know well at all. Sounds very nice in your hands!
Thank you very much everyone. It's very much appreciated. I always do a search before starting a new thread just in case it had already been posted, but it looks like the different spelling prevented me from finding the original thread (Megan vs. Magan)... Anyways, I posted it there as well. I'm currently working on Mrs. Maxwell 1st Air, so hopefully I'll be posting that soon. Thanks again!
