"Distressed" RedLine Traveler

We had a situation come up today where we had to send out a RedLine Traveler mandolin on a loaner basis. I was suggesting a particular instrument, as we were planning on sanding the top down to fix a cosmetic flaw. While I was talking to the customer, I didn't know it, but the top was already being sanded. I ran out to the shop, stopped Chris from sanding, but it had already been sanded through in a couple of places. So, we then hit it with a few finer grits, followed it with an application of Novus No. 2, and it looked pretty good. Not a true distressing, as we only mutilated the top, not the whole instrument.

In the meantime, if this instrument gets a bit more banged up during its travels, so much the better, as it should just add to its charm...

I talked to Steve this morning and ordered one of his Traveler kits. Should be a 'cool' summertime project. I'll try to post pix as I progress. This will be a neat addition to the stable.
