Hello all, I've been playing since April and thought I would join in the group. I have a Kay Mandolin and ordered a Shawnee Creek back in July. I should have that some time in November. I practice a bit and getting better at chops. I really don't no any full songs yet except the version of Soldiers Joy that was in the book I got. I am learning Ashokan Farewell now. How's it going for every one here and should we start a newbiew song learning thread?
Hello and welcome! I think the idea of a newbie tune thread may be a good one. Many of us aren't ready for the song-a-week group, and it's always nice to hear about tunes suitable for beginners. What does everyone else think?

Since it was my idea, I suppose I should go first? I will wait a day or two if no one jumps in I will post a tune. Edit: I am starting lessons on Wednesday. I hve been listening the #### out of True Life Blues - Bill Monroe Story. Might be something from that. or Voices on the wind....
