Yes, I own a Martin Backpacker. I use it as my practice mandolin. Also, I'm not a camper, but this is the mandolin I take with me when I travel,by car, train, plane, whatever. I've found it to be quite sturdy.
Mine is a 1920’s model BK. It is one of the instruments employees were allowed to build for themselves after a number of years with Martin.
