Today, Ben Clark announced a mandolin contest for the tune Old Joe Clark. It's a great opportunity for beginners - the object is to get people to play it and submit videos - just to encourage folk to do something with their mandolins. Entries are not judged by how "good" you play. Three winners will be drawn at random from among the entrants, and receive about $50 worth of items, including strings and a Blue Chip pick. So ... I just thought I'd pass it on here. One week to enter. CONTEST HERE: https://banjobenclark.com/forum/t/ol...n-contest/5700
How cool! Thanks Mark.
First clawhammer tune I learned on my banjo, back in 1963 or 1964. Straight from Pete Seeger's book. Now's as good a time as ever to work it up for mandolin. I have kinda played around with it off and on but never 'solidified' it.
I'm going to enter this, why not? Doesn't have to be perfect. Has anyone watched the video of Ben's advanced version? It's definitely advanced, glad we don't have to play that one. I might try to learn it, but I won't be buying the lesson and may not have time to learn the advanced version by ear (rather, by trial & error) before I leave next week. https://banjobenclark.com/lessons/ol...dolin-advanced
