And apparently the hellebore is also called Christmas rose (https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/popular/hellebore), which makes it appropriate to the season! I think this is my favourite among the ones you have posted recently. Great tune!

I love that group too, their sort of pulse rhythm... The tune’s in G minor I believe (I don’t have the mandolin in my hands at the moment). I play it with capo at 5th so that anyone can play the same fingering on a mandolin just by shifting everything one string towards the sky (right handed). This would put the tune in Cm, which sound like a complicated key but it’s really just the relative fingering on the fretboard that I’d be inclined to learn. That way I can play it back in the original key when I pick up a mandolin using just a shift skill. If the capo is at the 7th fret a mandolinist would shift everything one string to the ground in order to play the ‘same’ finger movements. I didn’t try it, but maybe it’s easier to play in Am?
What a cool tune! Love the way it starts off with a G minor arpeggio. We decided to take a quick run at it.
Oops! Missed this. Really like this one Mike, the guitar gives it a nice staccato feeling too. I found it a difficult tune to play, or at least get the flow, it has a sort of melodic call response feeling. Also, by the way, all of you guys may have noticed I sent out lots of friend requests -because I looked at my profile and realised I had no MandolinCafe friends at all!

I'm revisiting this thread to hear your nice recordings of Hellebore again. Since your original posting I've done two things: bought the Naragonia album with this tune on it (highly recommended) and tried to learn this melody. Oh my! It doesn't have a lot of notes to remember, but that G minor arpeggio is quite a stretch!
