This week the voting was close. The winner by one vote was Grey Eagle, which was submitted as a bluegrass tune. I'm not familiar with it!

I found this standard notation on Traditional Old-Time Music.

Here's a fast version on You Tube:

    Here's another version:

If anyone has any more links, that would be great!

That's Donal Lunny on the bouzouki...

Another great tune Luurtie! You must have a "speed learn" button!

No "speed learn" button Frank. If I want to play like Joe Clark I may never be able to post anything. All versions I found were very different, so I listened to several versions on spotify and found a recognisable version that I could play with ease...
It's strange how an easy version can sound so nice..

That's a great version Hendrik. You've got a grip on so many styles--it's really impressive.

A pleasant arrangement, Hendrick - all the other versions are pretty difficult especially Sam Bush's solo.
Apparently Grey Eagle was a race horse at the time of the American civil war and sired Robert E. Lee's famous horse, Traveller.

I forgot to tell, I was inspired by the version of "Evan Dykes & George Claude". You can find it on Spotify...

Well, here is my effort - not very refined as i was kind of hangin' on by my fingertips - but having fun too all me backing up, except the double bass which is thanks to Band in a box
I've really enjoyed having a go at this tune the last couple of days!

Excellent Luurtie and Jonny. I made the mistake of trying to learn Sam's solo. Now the week's over and I can't even play it at half speed.

Spent ages trying to make an acceptable version of this one but it wasbeyond me so I had to do the A and B parts separately. It was good practise though.

That was a good idea to do the parts separately. I might have to try that too in order to get something recorded for this one. Good job!

Funny you should ask - she's supposed to start recording with Clay Hess in a few weeks. Hopefully by the spring or early summer

What a very talented young lady, and what a very fine duo you make. Your backing is just so spot-on behind that mandolin. She makes all those tunes seem so effortless, and travels all over the fingerboard!

I especially love those licks high up the neck, but the rest is also great!

Yes! All of the above, plus the way she plays around with the time.

Fantastic news about recording with Clay Hess - it's time!
