Georg Friedrich Händel (1685-1759): Lascia ch'io pianga
Aria from the opera "Rinaldo" (HWV 7, 1711)
Arranged for instrumental quartet by M. Olschewski

This is an instrumental quartet version of Handel's famous aria "Lascia ch'io pianga", based on a flute quartet arrangement from IMSLP, which I have adapted to mandolin quartet:

Played on mandolin, waldzither (mandola tuning), tenor guitar and mandocello.

Nice recording Martin! Probably how Handel it would like to sound...

Yes, it's a perfectly baroque feeling. For effect, you might want to add the reverb of a larger hall, the creaking of wooden floors and a cough* here and there from the audience.

This is a new recording of Handel's Lascia ch-io panga, pared down to only mandolin and mandocello, based on a string quartet setting in D major from IMSLP played without second violin or viola:

That's lovely, Martin! Very nice arrangement, and tastefully played.

I like what you do with your tremolo - the intentional volume variation within each tremolo. So instead of being a rat-a-tat machine gun sound (kinda the way my dad played tremolo), instead yours is more a gentle flow of notes that are more expressive. Sounds good!
