Alte Pongauer Ländler

Yet another Alpine folk dance -- this one is I think my favourite from the batch.

This is a set of two traditional Ländler dances from the Pongau region of the state of Salzburg in Austria, which I have learned from Vol. 7 of "Tanzmusik aus den Alpenländern", a series of nine booklets of traditional dance tunes from the Alps, originally published in the 1930s and still in print now:

The notation in the book includes chords and also letters that I think correspond to accordion basses -- I have used those to make a mandocello bassline which seems to fit well with the tune.

    Mid-Missouri M-0W mandolin (x2)
    Suzuki MC-815 mandocello
    Vintage Viaten tenor guitar

Thanks, Jess. I think I may use the Mid-Mo if I record more of these -- the Kentucky I used for the others is fun, but the tone doesn't quite fit the material.

I've played the rhythm in double time on this one, which together with the mandocello gives it the high-energy character that the Ländler needs.

You're on a German-Austrian trip with your last tunes, Martin. You manage to let this Ländler sound very refreshing.
The Mid-Mo seems like the right choice for this kind of music.
