Michael Praetorius (1571-1621): Ballet du Roy pour sonner après From: Terpsichore (1612), No. CCLXIX Arranged for 4 mandolins by Marilynn Mair This quartet arrangement of a renaissance dance by Praetorius is from Marilynn Mair's website: http://www.marilynnmair.com/wp-conte...raetoriusD.pdf It was originally published in Mandolin Magazine in Spring 2005, to accompany this article: http://www.marilynnmair.com/articles...sance-consort/ Mair used the title "Danse du roi", but the piece is more commonly referred to as "Ballet du roy". I have played it on mandolin, plus tenor guitar, octave mandolin and mandocello. As Marilyn says in her article, the parts are somewhat tricky to count to make them align in such a way that a strong pulse for dancing emerges. Fun piece -- we play this with our group occasionally. 1898 Giuseppe Vinaccia mandolin Vintage Viaten tenor guitar Mid-Missouri M-111 octave mandolin Suziki MC-815 mandocello https://youtu.be/rZnOC6sN3TQ Martin
